Per the Java website: 'Every version of Mac OS X comes with Java out of the box. No download, installation, or setup is necessary.' To keep your Java up-to-date on a Mac, all you have to do is download the latest updates for your computer via Software Update. To do this:
1. Click on the Apple icon on the upper left-hand side of the page.
2. Click on System Update.
3. Click on Update Now.
4. Software Update will look for new updates available. If there are any updates available for Java, you should see Java on the list of available updates.
5. If there are any updates for Java, make sure there is a checkmark next to the Java update, then click Install
The update will download and install automatically. After Java is updated, we recommend restarting your browser.
